WHY DO YOU NEED TO START A BUSINESS?

Do You Know……?

Starting a business is often likely seen and said not to be for the irresolute, which might be right to say. It takes more time to build a business than it takes to be an employee.

Without a solid foundation, no standard firm exists. In starting a business, it takes all zealousness to ideate, and bring to reality, the existing dreams of a business. A business idea is always a solution to foreseen problems of humans. By this, it requires a lot of work from research to analysis and of course, it is only achieved via hard work and patience. A business not established to solve a particular problem is not different from a man winking at a beautiful lady in the dark.

One dream was brought to reality but with no impact on the day-to-day activities of humans.

How do you generate a business idea?

Years ago a resident of the Netherland saw a beautiful pair of sunglasses with a friend of his. He needed to get one too (NEED). He searched all through Google for a place he could get one, but none was close to him(PROBLEM). Then his friend needed to invest the little savings he had into something. They worked together and brought to reality available spots for sales of sunglasses in the Netherland(IDEATION-REALITY).

To generate a business idea, you need to identify a problem, think of possible means of solving the problem and work out planned solutions to make it a reality.

How do you get more customers for your business?

For every business, progress quality plays a great role. Quality may remain without the business being noticed by existing users, which is the need for an advert. (This will be discussed subsequently in detail). Nonetheless, hard work and consistency are keys to business growth.

The freedom at which one could set his/her own schedule, decide and choose on your future path, ideate and build a thing in your own way and to have financial security, are reasons why you should start a business.

EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN

Introduction

The effect of domestic violence on children has negative effect on the well-being and development of a child.

Recently, I came across a child who is almost 2 years old. He barely crawls nor allows anyone to carry him. Even his mum only backs him. She drops him only when he is to be breastfed. He is physically looking healthier than lots of his peer health wise, he has been examined, and confirmed to be very healthy. Yes it may seem normal or might have been seen in various cases that a child might last longer than usual before he/she begins to work. After some questionings, and researches it was confirmed that he is scared of people precisely males. This is because his parents usually fight and he has seen violence in his parents and believed it is something everyone transfers or bares.

During my research, I read about a girl that was hospitalized due to a severe accident she sustained while running down the stair case to call the neighbours ton separate her ever fighting parents. Statistically, 1 of 4 children is exposed to domestic violence. At least 50% of women that are victims of domestic violence have children that see the acts of their parents. Although a man abusing a woman is recognized more often, abusers may be male or female. Abuse can happen in any class, religion, ethnic group, occupation or age. It is important to note that children exposed to domestic violence are more at risk for other forms of maltreatment such as physical abuse and neglect.

Children exposed to domestic violence at infancy often experience an inability to bond and form secure attachments, often resulting in intensified startled reactions and an inhibited sense of exploration and play. Statistics show that a child who witnesses violence between their parents or guardians is more likely to carry on violent behaviours in their own adult lives. “Even when child witnesses do not suffer physical injury, the emotional consequences of viewing or hearing violent acts are severe and long-lasting. When a child witness’s violence, he cries, loss of appetite , falls sick, low self-esteem, a bully or victim of bullying, low performance, have sleeping problems and slow growth.

What is domestic violence?

Domestic violence also called domestic abuse or intimate partner violence is a manner of behaviour in relationship that is an unhealthy way of gaining power or chance forcefully over the other partner. This abuse or violence may be in different forms such as Physical, Mental/Emotional, Sexual and Financial/economic violence.

Physical Violence; is termed physical because it involves the use of objects in harming the partner or by exchanging blows, and in most cases harming themselves physically. In most cases, physical violence comes up by using one of the other types of Violence as excuse. For instance; a fight resulting from refusal to give out money by one party may result in physical fight. Children who are victims of domestic violence are often frequently ill, and may suffer from poor hygiene. Children who witness domestic violence also have a tendency to partake in high risk play activities, self-abuse, and suicide

Mental/Emotional Violence; is a case whereby the both partners have used words or actions indirectly to hurt themselves. This could be from one partner being insincere with the other or being cheated.

Sexual Violence; is a sexual attack, or an attempt made on someone, sexually, with force or without proper consent of the person.

Financial violence; It has been observed that 995 of domestic Violence cases has financial violence in it. This is a tactical way of keeping a victim of violence mute and still suffering in the relationship. When he or she has no means to speak or go out of the relation due to financial constraints and limitation, a stay becomes the only option.

Other forms of domestic Violence include cultural violence where a victim is forced to follow a particular culture irrespective of the victim actual culture.

Generally, all the forms of violence are a means of intimidating, and instilling fear in a victims mind.

Characteristics of Domestic Violence

Every child suffering from domestic violence has certain characteristics they exhibit that differentiate them from children from a happy home. Some of these are;

Physical characteristics: a child suffering from domestic violence may be seen with certain deformity which might have been a result of the previous violence. He/ she may have been involved directly or in directly. Some of these deformities in the child’s physical appearance may have resulted from a pull or push the mother as a victim might have experienced during one of the cases while she was still pregnant. In some cases it even leads to pre-matured births which of course is already a temper with the child supposed normal life.

Social Characteristics; a child who grew up in violence will see it as norms being aggressive or being a bully or unfriendly. In some cases he/she might not be that any, but might find it difficult to mingle properly amidst people, since he has already had the mind set of violence. Even if he doesn’t show it, it finds a way out.

Mental/Emotional Characteristics; It shouldn’t be expected that a child that has suffered such will have much of human feelings. Yes they grow up at times with the pity seeing the pains either of the parents go through from the home violence. But then, the mental stability of children generally gets reshaped due to this. Depression and anger is common in children experiencing domestic violence.

Performance Characteristic; from smartness at home down to academic and the likes, such children find it difficult to cope within themselves and peer group. In most cases, they end up being dubiously smart.

Safety of children from domestic violence

Being aware of the fact that domestic violence has a long negative effect on children, all possible safety measures should be put in place To ensure children are protected from witnessing domestic violence. Though its not certain that exposure to domestic violence is merely a matter of witnessing it. It may be an accidental occurrence or a concurrent one with purpose of it being witnessed.

Children and young people need to grow up in a secure and nurturing environment. Where domestic or family violence exists, the home is not safe or secure and children are scared about what might happen to them and the people they love. Hence, the most important measure is making safety of the child/children a priority and making sure the children are out of the abusive environment. Also, children should be taught a more well-mannered behaviour on how to resolve disputes and not by violence. In cases where a child becomes a victim of domestic violence either accidentally or directly, a measure of guidance and counselling can also be put in place to re-stabilize the slightly or highly disrupted mental sanity of the child. Every child’s well-being is a priority to the parent.

Domestic Violence has an effect that lingers long on the victims directly or indirectly. It should therefore be avoided as best as possible.

CULTURE AND THE MYSTERIOUS HISTORY OF OGUTA LAKE

 Introduction

As known, in Africa, every part of the world has its own culture, and belief attached to it.

It has to do with the way of life of people, as well as why and how people act the way they do at a specific time, place and reason

Cultural beliefs range in dynamic aspects. It goes from cultural deities, to ceremonies , through oracles , down to rules and regulations and the likes. Some cultural beliefs were inherited and nurtured while some were definitely birthed by human acts that might have resulted in a scenario now seen as a cultural practice. In most cases, it is believed that if some of these cultural practices or beliefs are abolished or ignored, punishment or repercussions erupt though in most cases. This is a belief inherited and passed on from generation to generation.

I’ll be sharing a story about some wonders of God through nature, embraced as culture in a part of the world.

The brief story of Oguta Lake

Nigeria is a country in the western part of Africa, with 36 states and capital, with Abuja as its capital.

Somewhere in the eastern part of Nigeria, in Imo state there is a lake called ‘THE OGUTA LAKE’

This river is believed to have a mixture of 2 divorced persons in the form of a river, meeting at a point, but never mixing.

History has it that both rivers met somewhere at Oguta lake, with each river having its name. One of the rivers is called “Orashi” and the other is called “Ogbuide” . The 2 rivers have 2 different colours that are distinct. One looks brownish and the other has a shade of greenish look. The 2 rivers flow along the same path but never mix. It is believed that even if the water from both rivers are put together in a container, they never mix. If placed in a tight container, they cause an explosion.

According to the villagers, the river is a result of the reincarnation of a husband and wife that lived happily together, then later had a quarrel that resulted in a divorce. They went their separate ways and never forgave each other till they died. Though no one has been able to state clearly the cause of their fight. Their reincarnation next to each other as 2 rivers flowing along the same path shows that they have a thing together, but of course, life happens, and it happened.

A Visit To The Oguta Lake

Not until recently when a lady Farielysian visited the river, no one had ever tried mixing the water from both rivers, as no one was allowed to do so.

Lady Farielysian a white woman who visited and was ready to try mixing the both rivers, was aggressively stopped from mixing it. She was allowed to take the water samples in separate containers so she could try out whatever she wanted to, far from the river. Maybe, even if they must be abused as it is regarded, it shouldn’t be in their presence. To her and many others this of course could be a fear on the path of the villagers.

Lady Farielysian Mixed the water when she was out of the community.

Guess what!

In Africa, Culture is a thing no one should dare to play around. Culture isn’t being questioned as to why its in existence. Lady Farielysian being a white woman tried out the unproven mystery of Oguta Lake. Though according to the video she shared, her cameraman was obviously scared and couldn’t video the clear act, but she stated clearly, she’s fine and all ok, there was no explosion nor any bad reaction during and after her experiment. So Yes! Someone finally got to mix the water in a container.

She might have been luckily safe maybe because she isn’t a native of that community and not bound by the cultural Dos and Don’ts.

Culture remains to be as it is, it’s always still respected in all African homes. Maybe just an upgraded version of it though.

Next we need to see proof from someone who visits the river and tries to mix the water while in the river. NOT ME THOUGH.

Thank you and stay active for my next interesting piece.

WHO IS A WRITER ?

 Who is a writer?

A writer is a person who uses written words in different writing styles and techniques to communicate ideas. Writers produce different forms of literary art and creative writing such as novels, short stories, books, poetry, travelogues, plays, screenplays, teleplays, songs, and essays as well as other reports and news articles that may be of interest to the general public. Writers can produce material across a number of genres, fictional or non-fictional.

Why writers Writers:

To release their often complex and convoluted thoughts, providing an effective source of grounding and stress release, taking a greater burden off of their shoulders

To speak to an audience — to get something off their chest

To create and maintain relationships with people around the world

To share their lives, their travel, their experiences

To help readers by educating or inspiring an audience to develop any number of greater understanding, skills, or expertise in any given topic from baking to mountain climbing to puppy training or parenting

To find rest and repose amidst an incredibly busy and bustling life — an oasis found through the writing process and its fruition

To find themselves…. Out of a search through hundreds of thousands of letters, words, and phrases linked together by only one unique thread of commonality, that which is the writer who steps forward with pride and craftsmanship.

Benefits a writer gets from writing

· You will communicate with clarity. Unlike talking, when you write you look for more sophisticated words and expressions to describe what you have in mind. This helps you build a structure that will allow you to express yourself better and communicate complex ideas in a much more effective way.

· You will eliminate stress. In the same way as in GTD you empty your mind — by capturing everything that comes to it — in order to eliminate the stress that causes having many things hitting your head, writing and developing your ideas produces an amplified effect since not only you take them out of your mind but also the whole process of rationalization that otherwise would abstractly stay in there.

· You will be more productive. Writing activates the neurons in your brain and gets it ready to overcome the rest of the tasks (you can use it as a kind of warm-up at the beginning of the day). In addition, writing down your tasks with the appropriate words prepares you to carry them out properly. Finally, it’s demonstrated that setting your goals in writing increases significantly the possibilities of achieving them.

· You will learn more. Writing in your own words the information that you receive helps you assimilating and consolidating knowledge that otherwise you would forget soon.

· You will gain awareness of your reality. If you write down what you have in mind each day, what you expect to achieve and how you feel according to this, you won’t need a psychologist to explain you who you are. You will realize yourself.

· You will make better decisions. When writing you clear up your thoughts and, obviously, a clearer thinking allows you to make better choices.

· You will be happier. It’s an immediate consequence of the two previous points. There is no need to write a public blog, a sort of personal journal is perfectly valid.

· You will live more focused. If you constantly write about your thoughts you will never get out of sight what you want to achieve, which your dreams are.

· You will overcome tough moments faster. There is some research that suggests that those that write about what is happening overcome tough moments quicker than those who don’t.

· You will have a lot of written memories. If you write each day, you will have a historical record of your thoughts, probably something much more interesting than a simple photo album. And, who knows, maybe you end up publishing a book

So write a lot and write every day.
